Maryland only seemed interested in taking one running back in this class with Ty Johnson and Lorenzo Harrison already on the roster and after signing Anthony McFarland, Tayon Fleet-Davis and Javon Leake in the Class of 2017. The Terps are tight on scholarships and, true to his Twitter handle, Salahuddin was the top, and only, prospect they were pushing hard for at running back.
On the other side of the same token, Salahuddin has always seemed keen on getting away from home for college. He was one of the top performers at The Opening D.C. Regional, earning himself an invitation to the finals this weekend. While he always mentioned Maryland in his top group, there were almost always bigger names listed first.
While DJ Durkin and his staff will surely stay on Salahuddin all the way to National Signing Day, but can focus their attention more on other top targets at other positions, most notably local four-star defensive end Eyabi Anoma, who’ll be on campus this Friday.
