The North Point High School (Md.) product is the second local blue-chip recruit to include Maryland in his top-something list this week, following in the footsteps of five-star cornerback Anthony Lytton, who included Maryland in his top five on Tuesday night.
Maryland is accompanied by Penn State, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, North Carolina and Rutgers on Walker’s list. The 6’5, 280-pound lineman is the No. 8 prospect in Maryland and the No. 17 overall tackle in the country, per the 247Sports Composite.
The Terps are picking up some recruiting momentum heading into this weekend’s spring game, where their 2018 class could gain some new members. Maryland recently received Crystal Ball predictions for three-star offensive lineman Justin Johnson and three-star receiver Dontay Demus Jr., and four-star receiver Darryl Jones.
All three have ties to Maryland. Johnson attends Imhotep Institute in Philadelphia where current Maryland wide receiver D.J. Moore went to high school. Maryland is also recruiting his teammate Isheem Young, who’s a high four-star safety, but he looks unlikely to strongly consider the Terps at this point. Demus attends Friendship Academy in Washington, where Maryland defensive backs coach Aazaar Abdul-Rahim started and brought the football program to prominence. Jones is a receiver who recently played on Maryland quarterback commit Tyler DeSue’s 7-on-7 team in Virginia Beach.
And then there’s four-star DeMatha offensive lineman Evan Gregory, who’s appeared to be a Maryland lean — albeit narrowly — for quite some time. He should be in attendance on Saturday. If he were to commit, it would be the second year in a row Maryland got a local four-star offensive lineman to commit during the weekend of the Spring Game, following Jordan McNair last year.
