He’s the team’s second Pennsylvania recruit, joining already-enrolled junior college corner Alex Woods. He verbally committed to Maryland in a homemade video, and took his official visit to College Park in December.
Bennett is the No. 15 player in Pennsylvania and the No. 99 cornerback in the Class of 2017, according to the 247Sports Composite.
Bennett is part of Maryland’s aggressive secondary repopulation. The Terps already have four-star secondary recruits Deon Jones and Markquese Bell enrolled for the spring, as well as Woods and three-star corner Fofie Bazzie.
Maryland added four defensive backs last year, and all played as true freshmen. Bennett could have an uphill climb to get playing time in his first year with the program, but judging by how freely DJ Durkin played true freshman last season, nothing’s out of the picture.
