Maryland football scored a commitment from running back Anthony McFarland on Friday, and less than a week later, the four-star prospect has officially signed with the Terps.

McFarland seemed to be leaning toward Miami right until the end, but ultimately chose Maryland in a Snapchat circus. He continues a trend of DeMatha talent staying home for college, joining teammate Marcus Minor and fomer backfield partner Lorenzo Harrison, among others.
He’s the highest-rated commit in Maryland’s class, edging out cornerback Deon Jones, who enrolled early at the school. McFarland is the No. 100 overall player on the 247Sports Composite and the consensus No. 2 player in Maryland.
McFarland adds extra firepower to a ground attack that was one of the nation’s most proficient in 2016 and returns its top two rushers in Harrison and Ty Johnson. McFarland can also be used as a slot receiver, and there are plenty of ways he can fit into Walt Bell’s offense.
DeMatha alum and former Maryland quarterback Scott McBrien has McFarland’s welcome message:
A #OneDeMatha and #FearTheTurtle welcome to @AnttMacc_ from @SMPA7!#Shell17 https://t.co/GT2UB6gwEh
