The three-star defensive end from Greenbelt, Md. who played at Eleanor Roosevelt High School is another homegrown prospect for the Terps. Rogers is one of four defensive ends Maryland has committed in the 2017 class. Chandler Burkett is likely to be the starting defensive end for the Terps in 2017, but Rogers still has at least some chance to see playing time.
Rogers verbally committed to Maryland in December.
Rogers will need to add weight to his 6’4, 235-pound frame before he’s ready to play at the college level. He’s also very mobile for his size, especially off the snap. Overall, Rogers is the 247Sports Composite’s No. 67 strong-side defensive end nationally and the No. 25 player in Maryland.
For a Maryland defense that will be without redshirt senior Roman Braglio, Rogers brings athleticism to the position. While he might not play much this year, he’ll have his chance for a bigger role in the future.
