Maryland football no longer has any recruits committed in the Class of 2018, as three-star linebacker Eriq Gilyard announced his decommitment from the Terps on Monday.

Gilyard is the No. 26 outside linebacker recruit in the class of 2018 and the No. 54 recruit in Florida, according to the 247Sports Composite.
He committed to Maryland in the middle of November, a full 15 months before he’d be able to make it official next February. His decommitment comes a month and a half after that. We’re currently in a recruiting dead period, which means Maryland can only speak with him over the phone once a week.
Gilyard had a host of offers from top programs around the country, including Alabama, Clemson, Michigan and LSU. He didn’t give a reason for re-opening his recruitment. Maybe one of those schools is recruiting him hard, or maybe it’s one of the many other schools that’s offered him.
Maryland now has no recruits committed in the 2018 class, but there’s a whole lot of time for that to change. The Terps didn’t receive their first 2017 commit until March, and that group’s shaping up to be a pretty good one.
