Maryland football has suffered its second decommitment from the 2017 recruiting class, as three-star Virginia athlete Dazz Newsome reopened his recruitment Saturday.

Newsome committed to the Terps in October. He was recruited by Mike London, who has taken the head coaching job at Howard. Newsome took an official visit to North Carolina earlier Saturday; he also visited Virginia Tech in November and is projected to the Hokies in 100 percent of 247Sports’ Crystal Ball predictions.

Maryland’s only other decommitment in this class to date is Joshua Kaindoh, who flipped to Florida State in December. It’s more likely than not that someone else will exit the class between now and signing day.

Newsome is the No. 35 prospect in Virginia and the nation’s No. 81 athlete, according the the 247Sports Composite. He is expected to play cornerback in college; that’s a position where Maryland returns JC Jackson and brings in four-star prospect Deon Jones.
