Brock Sassler commits to Maryland football: Terps land long snapper

The Terps get an elite special teamer.

The Maryland football recruiting class of 2017 continues to grow, as local long snapper Brock Sassler has committed to the Terps.

The rising senior at Boys’ Latin in Baltimore was named the No. 1 long snapper in the Mid-Atlantic by Kohl’s Kicking, which is the nation’s top evaluation program for high school kickers, punters and long snappers. The program’s website gives Sassler a 4.5-star rating and pegs him as the 30th-best long snapper in the nation for the Class of 2017. He has also played defensive end and linebacker in high school, but it’s definitely his special teams prowess that brings him to College Park.

The decision to commit to Maryland was evidently an easy one for Sassler, who received the offer from Maryland just four days ago. He becomes the Terps’ 16th verbal commit for 2017, and now 11 of those players have ties to the DMV.
