Maryland football badly needs depth in its secondary, and four-star Potomac (Md.) cornerback Deon Jones would be a nice coup for the Terps. Jones is announcing his commitment Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. online at Sentelevision.
The class of 2017 corner has offers from tons of top schools, but is expected to decide between Maryland and Clemson on Wednesday. Sentelevision tabs the Tigers as the favorites to land Jones, but Adam Friedman of Rivals called Maryland the "likely destination" for Jones just last week.
The Oxon Hill product is the No. 3 player in Maryland and the No. 13 corner in the class of 2017, according to the 247Sports Composite.
If the Terps do land Jones, expect him to receive playing time as a freshman. Along with J.C. Jackson, who is expected to commit to Maryland as a community college transfer, he could really help solidify the cornerback position for the program going forward.
