Joshua Kaindoh commits to Florida State

The former Maryland pledge has a new home.

Five-star defensive end Joshua Kaindoh announced his commitment to Florida State on Twitter Friday.

Kaindoh was previously committed to Maryland from April to November; he decommitted after Thanksgiving weekend. He visited Florida State in October, which seemed to be a turning point in his recruitment. The IMG Academy prospect ultimately elected to stay in Florida rather than return to the DMV, where he grew up.

This is a huge pickup for the Seminoles, who were without a defensive end commit in the Class of 2017. Kaindoh, the No. 2 weak-side end in the country per the 247Sports Composite, adds to a defensive line that will also include Brian Burns (8.5 sacks as a freshman this season) and Josh Sweat (5.5 sacks in his sophomore year) next fall. Kaindoh will enroll at Florida State in the spring semester.

Maryland’s recruiting class obviously doesn’t look quite the same without Kaindoh, but the Terps have landed four commits on the line since his departure: Three-star defensive ends Lawtez Rogers and Kofi Wardlow, and twin defensive tackles Breyon and Brandon Gaddy.
