Wardlow is teammates with Maryland commits Kasim Hill and Cam Spence at St. John’s College High School. He’s Maryland’s 28th commit in the class of 2017, but a few early enrollees will technically reduce that number. Wardlow is rated as the No. 12 recruit in D.C. and the nation’s No. 74 weak-side defensive end by 247Sports. At Maryland he’ll play at linebacker or the BUCK, the hybrid defensive end-linebacker position Jesse Aniebonam and Melvin Keihn played this season.
Michigan State, Boston College, Army, Albany and Ball State were all in contention for his services, but Wardlow seemed to be a Maryland lean throughout his recruitment.
Wardlow is another recruit who’s committing following Maryland’s big recruiting weekend on Dec. 9-11. Since then, Breyon and Brandon Gaddy, Tyran Hunt and Nick Underwood have committed.
He joins Underwood, Ayinde Eley and potentially Bryce Brand as linebacker commits in the class. As with all commitments, Wardlow’s isn’t binding until National Signing Day on Feb. 1.
