Maryland men’s basketball head coach Mark Turgeon secured his final scholarship spot this season with transfer guard Xavier Green, the team announced Friday.

Green is headed over from Old Dominion where he spent the last five seasons. When for Maryland guard Aaron Wiggins declared for the NBA Draft, the Terps had a scholarship spot open up and immediately expressed interest in Green.

Green has a sixth year of eligibility thanks to redshirting his freshman year and the COVID-19 pandemic that allowed athletes an extra year of eligibility.

Since his sophomore season, Green averaged 33 minutes, 10 points and four rebounds per game as a Monarch. He is a former Conference USA Tournament Most Valuable Player and earned a spot on the Conference USA All-Defensive Team.

With a ton of collegiate experience, Green adds guard depth and veteran experience that will be a staple of this year’s Maryland squad.
