The last time Maryland men’s basketball was in Minneapolis, Darryl Morsell nailed a miraculous, deep 3-pointer with 1.9 seconds left to push the ninth-ranked Terps over the Golden Gophers, 74-73, and pull off a 17-point comeback on Feb. 26, 2020.
While Maryland has a 2-6 in-conference record, each of those wins have come on the road and against ranked opponents, making it one of three Big Ten schools — along with Purdue and No. 15 Ohio State — to have two ranked away wins. And The Barn is somewhere the Terps have loved to play — Maryland has won three straight meetings there and leads the all-time series with the Gophers, 10-2.
Minnesota hasn’t played since Jan. 16 — it also had a game against Nebraska postponed — when the Gophers handed No. 7 Michigan its first loss of the season in a 75-57 rout. Guard Marcus Carr leads the team with 20.6 points per game, while center Liam Robbins is averaging 13.8 points and 2.6 blocks.
All the action tips off at 2 p.m. and will be televised on Big Ten Network.
