Maryland men’s basketball picked up its second recruit in the 2021 class, as four-star shooting guard Ike Cornish announced his commitment Wednesday.
Cornish plays at Legacy Charter in Greenville, South Carolina. He previously listed the Terps in a top-six alongside Rutgers, Virginia Tech, Xavier, St. John’s, and Georgetown.
The Baltimore native is listed as the No. 77 player, No. 16 shooting guard and the third-best player out of South Carolina in his class, per the 247Sports Composite.
Standing at 6’6, 185 pounds, Cornish provides a good build for the college game. He can shoot the ball and play outside, but he’s not afraid to drive inside or create one-on-one chances inside against his man.
Cornish joins fellow four-star Julian Reese as a member of the 2021 class. Reese, the brother of Maryland women’s basketball 2020 signee Angel Reese, opened the Terps’ class with his commitment on May 10. At 6’9, 205 pounds, he will provide needed depth to the Maryland frontcourt in the future, while Cornish adds to the backcourt.
With Cornish and Reese on board, Mark Turgeon’s 2021 class ranks No. 5 in the nation and No. 2 in the Big Ten, trailing just the Wisconsin Badgers, who have three players on board.
