Maryland men’s basketball will return home to face the No. 16 Michigan Wolverines in a New Year’s Eve battle Thursday night.
The Terps are coming off a wild upset win against No. 6 Wisconsin. Eric Ayala led the squad with 17 points in their first win against a top-10 team since 2016.
Michigan has had an undefeated start to the season. The Wolverines are led by big men Isaiah Livers and Hunter Dickinson, who are each averaging slightly over 15 points per game. Dickinson is a Maryland product from Dematha Catholic High School, but he claims he wasn’t recruited by Mark Turgeon, which has been a talking point in the days leading up to the game.
The last time Maryland and Michigan met, the Terps walked away with a win and a share of the Big Ten regular season title in what would become their final game of the 2019-20 season.
The Numbers
Maryland: 6-3 (1-2 Big Ten)
Michigan: 7-0 (2-0 Big Ten)
All-Time Series: Maryland leads 6-5
Odds: Michigan is a 1.5 point favorite
