Maryland men’s basketball tips off its conference schedule with a matchup against No. 19 Rutgers after dropping its first game of the season in blowout fashion at Clemson last week.

In the 67-51 loss to the Tigers, Maryland converted just one of eight three-pointers in the first half. Forward Donta Scott led the team with 11 points — nailing 3-of-4 from downtown — along with six rebounds and three blocks.

It’s been 10 days since the Terps last played at Xfinity Center, when Hakim Hart’s 32 points led Maryland to a 90-57 thumping of Saint Peter’s. Since the 2018-19 season, Maryland is a conference-best 17-2 at home during Big Ten play.

The Terps have won five of their six Big Ten openers, with their lone defeat coming at the hands of the Purdue Boilermakers in 2017. Last season, Maryland rallied from a 15-point deficit to top Illinois, capped by Anthony Cowan Jr.’s last-minute heroics.

Rutgers is undefeated in its four games this year, including a 79-69 victory over Syracuse in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

The Terps and Scarlet Knights will tip off at 6 p.m. and the game will be televised on Big Ten Network.
