James Graham III, a four-star Class of 2021 commit will be graduating high school early and joining Maryland men’s basketball this season, the team announced Friday.
“I can’t wait to get to College Park and experience a new team, new coaches and new challenges,” Graham said. “I wanted to start early so I could maximize my abilities and get into the Maryland system. It’s all about competition for me.”
The 6’8 forward will be eligible to play for the Terps once the fall semester ends after he passes testing protocol. He is expected to see action following the winter holiday break, according to a team spokesperson.
The four-star recruit, ranked as the No. 18 small forward in his class per the 24/7 Sports Composite, gives head coach Mark Turgeon crucial depth at the position. He averaged 20.3 points and 6.6 rebounds as a junior for Nicolet High School before the season was shut down last year.
Graham III initially committed to the Terps back on Aug. 19 and signed with the program on Nov. 11.
“We’re looking forward to James joining our program early and getting a headstart acclimating within our system and the weight room,” Turgeon said. “We can’t wait to have him in College Park.”
