Maryland men’s basketball welcomes the Navy Midshipmen to College Park Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. in its second game of the season.
The Terps were victorious in their season opener Wednesday in an 85-67 game against Old Dominion. In an eerily quiet Xfinity Center, Eric Ayala notched a game-high 19 points after converting 6-of-6 shots — including four three-pointers.
Fellow returners Donta Scott (14 pts), Aaron Wiggins (12 pts) and Darryl Morsell (12 pts) also scored in double-figures, and Chol Marial had seven points, four rebounds and swatted two shots. Newcomers Galin Smith, Jairus Hamilton and Marcus Dockery all played at least 14 minutes in their first game in red, white, black and gold.
Navy defeated the George Washington Colonials Wednesday afternoon, 78-71. Junior guard John Carter Jr. posted 17 points and six rebounds, and senior Cam Davis dropped 15 points and added seven assists.
The Terps and Midshipmen, who first faced off during the 1924-25 season, haven’t met in College Park since a 98-73 Terps win at Cole Field House on Jan. 31, 1983. Maryland has won the last 11 matchups between the pair, with the latest coming in 2018.
The game will be televised on Big Ten Network.
