Four-star Ike Cornish signs with Maryland men’s basketball

The Terps add another talented local product to its 2021 class

Maryland men’s basketball has made another significant addition to its 2021 recruiting class official, with four-star guard Ike Cornish signing his letter of intent on Wednesday.

The 6’6 wing attended Legacy Charter High School just outside Greenville, South Carolina, but originally hails from Baltimore, ranking as the No. 102 player overall, No. 25 shooting guard and No. 4 player out of the state of Maryland in his class.

Cornish’s frame makes for him to be the ideal wing within head coach Mark Turgeon’s positionless style of play, fitting within the mold of a player that has the skill and size to play up to four positions on either end of the floor. As a player that thrives at making defenders respect his outside shot while also being able to attack close-outs effectively, Cornish figures to play a role similar to that of Aaron Wiggins for the Terps.

Cornish initially announced his verbal commitment to Maryland on June 10, and will be holding his official signing ceremony this Friday.

With Cornish now locked in, he joins four-star commits Julian Reese and James Graham III, putting the Terps 2021 recruiting class at No. 18 in the nation and No. 3 in the Big Ten.
