Maryland men’s basketball signed its first player in the 2021 class Wednesdssy, with local power forward Julian Reese officially joining the fold.
The four-star prospect is a product of St. Frances Academy and ranked as the No. 82 player overall, No. 19 power forward and No. 3 player from Maryland in the class. He chose the Terps over offers from LSU, UConn and Miami among others.
Reese stands at 6’9, 205 pounds, and provides a good frame at the four position. He has a strong, consistent motor and works hard on the defensive end of the floor. On offense, Reese will play a similar role to that of Jalen Smith, working both inside and outside.
Choosing the Terps was a family affair for Reese, as he is the younger brother of Maryland women’s basketball player Angel Reese, who was the No. 2 overall recruit in the Class of 2020.
Maryland men’s basketball has three committed players in the 2021 class, with four-star prospects James Graham and Ike Cornish also verbally pledged. The class ranks No. 18 in the nation and No. 3 in the Big Ten.
