Maryland basketball released its conference opponents for the 2019-20 season Wednesday afternoon, which will feature 20 games for the second consecutive season.
The Terps will play two games — one home and one away — with Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State and Rutgers.
Maryland will also face Michigan, Nebraska and Purdue at Xfinity Center. The team will face Minnesota, Penn State and Wisconsin on the road.
This will be just the second season since joining the conference that Maryland will only have to face Michigan once, and the only matchup between the two teams will be in College Park. However, the Terps will face Michigan State twice, and the Spartans have topped several way-too-early rankings for next season.
Last season, Maryland finished 13-7 in conference play, facing Michigan, Purdue and Wisconsin twice in perhaps the league’s toughest schedule. Only facing these teams once should be a big advantage for the Terps, although it’s too early to know which teams will present the hardest challenges in the winter.
The official schedule will be announced over the summer.
