Sunday is by far Maryland’s biggest game of the season, an afternoon tilt against No. 9 Michigan. The Terps are looking to stay in the top 25 after a 17-point loss to Penn State earlier in the week. They are also looking for redemption against the Wolverines, whom they lost to 65-52 at Michigan on Feb. 16.
Maryland is also in a battle with Wisconsin for the No. 4 seed in the Big Ten tournament, a crucial double-bye that would automatically put them in the quarterfinals. Maryland has a half-game lead over the Badgers, but likely can’t afford to slip up anymore if it wants a top-four seed.
Xfinity Center sold out for this game last week, just the second sellout of the year. With everything that’s at stake, expect a close game with a lot of physicality and action and a crazy atmosphere to boot.
The numbers
No. 17 Maryland: 21-8, 12-6 Big Ten
No. 9 Michigan: 25-4, 14-4 Big Ten
All-time series: Tied 5-5
Odds: Michigan is favored by one point
