Maryland men’s basketball will look to follow up its impressive road upset victory over Iowa when it faces the Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday afternoon at Xfinity Center. The Terps defeated the Buckeyes 75-61 on January 18.
The Terrapins are coming off a 66-65 upset over No. 21 Iowa in Iowa City on Tuesday, which served as their first road win over a ranked team in over 11 years. Anthony Cowan Jr. led the team with 17 points, but Bruno Fernando had the most important points of the game as he tipped in a missed shot with 7.8 seconds left as Maryland finally exorcised its road demons.
The Buckeyes also played Wednesday, and they defeated Northwestern at home, 63-49. Ohio State is currently 17-9 overall, but only 7-8 in conference play. Kaleb Wesson and C.J. Jackson are the only two Buckeyes who average 10-plus points per game.
A win on Saturday would cement a fantastic week for the Terrapins and would ensure a rise in the AP Poll. Following this game, Maryland will only have two more home games for the rest of the season.
