Maryland basketball’s game vs. Navy will be on Nov. 9

This is the Maryland Minute, a short story followed by a roundup of Terps-related news.

We’ve known for a while that Maryland and Navy will square off in basketball this fall for the first time since 1985. Now we have a date to mark down.

The Terps and Midshipmen will meet up on Friday, Nov. 9 for the second game of the Veterans Classic in Annapolis. Providence and Wichita State will play in the first contest at 6 p.m. ET, followed by Maryland-Navy at 8:30. All games will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.

The timing means this will be the second game of Maryland’s season. The Terps already announced that their 2018-19 campaign would open against Delaware on Tuesday, Nov. 6, and it wouldn’t make sense to squeeze another game in between that and the Navy contest.

Maryland’s other non-conference matchups with locked-in dates are Nov. 28 against Virginia, Dec. 11 against Loyola (MD) and Dec. 22 against Seton Hall. They’re also confirmed to be playing Hofstra, Marshall and Mount St. Mary’s, which leaves three matchups undetermined.
