Maryland basketball has a tough road ahead, and the Terps’ window for making the NCAA Tournament is slowly shrinking. Their first major road block comes on Sunday at home against No. 6 Michigan State.

Maryland is coming off of a 71-68 road loss to Indiana, putting its Big Ten record at 4-5. The Terps already lost to the Spartans in East Lansing this season, a 91-61 road defeat. While no longer the top-ranked team in the nation, Michigan State is still the best in the Big Ten and is lethal on both sides of the ball. If the Terps take care of the basketball and shoot more efficiently, they’ll have a fighting chance against the Spartans.

The numbers

Maryland: 15-7 (4-5 Big Ten)

Michigan State: 19-3 (7-2 Big Ten)

All-time series: Michigan State leads 7-5

Odds: Maryland is a 7-point underdog
