The AP voters and the NCAA Tournament selection committee clearly have differing opinions on Maryland.

The Terps were just awarded a No. 6 seed in the tournament on Sunday, but didn’t receive a vote in the AP Top 25 after coming in at No. 25 last week. The selection committee tabbed Maryland as the No. 23 overall seed in the tournament, putting the Terps above No. 8 seed Wisconsin.

Villanova took over Kansas’s spot as the overall No. 1 seed. Gonzaga is at No. 2, while Kansas slipped to No. 3. Arizona, which is a No. 2 seed in Maryland’s West Region, is at No. 4, and Kentucky is at No. 5.

Elsewhere in the Big Ten, Michigan found its way back into the poll at No. 23. Wisconsin’s at No. 25. Purdue continues as the conference’s top-rated seed at No. 15.

Maryland starts NCAA Tournament play Thursday against Xavier in Orlando. Fla.
