Maryland basketball gathered at coach Mark Turgeon’s house on Sunday to watch the NCAA Tournament selection show. After three of the four regions were announced, the Terps were conspicuously absent.
Sixty-six of the 68 teams in the field were revealed before Maryland’s name popped up. Maryland fans grew restless and the team appears to have been feeling the pressure too.
The team erupted into cheers, as one would expect, but Turgeon went a little extra nuts upon learning Maryland’s seeding was slightly higher than most outlets had projected.
When all was said and done, Maryland was named the No. 6 seed in the West region. The Terps are scheduled to play Xavier at 6:50 on Thursday on TNT in Orlando in the unofficial Dez Wells Bowl.
