It’s been seven months since Maryland men’s basketball last played a game in the Xfinity Center, when this was the last sight Terps fans saw.

Maryland got its 2017-18 campaign started with a 15-point win over Stony Brook in Nassau Coliseum, and now welcomes its university system compatriots from the Eastern Shore to College Park.
Terps fans will finally get a first hand look at the progression Maryland’s core trio has made this offseason. Anthony Cowan, Kevin Huerter and Justin Jackson combined for 39 points and were three of five Terps in double figures. It will also be the first time freshman Bruno Fernando, who added 10 points of his own on Friday night, suits up in College Park.
On the other end, the Hawks are coming off a 95-69 win over Valley Forge on Friday, off the effort of a 51-point outing from two freshmen off the bench. Now, fourth-year coach Bobby Collins would need a similarly inspiring effort to win the season’s first road game.
6’3 guard Cameron Bacote had a 28-point, 11-assist double-double in his college debut, going 11-of-18 from the field and 6-of-12 from three in 36 minutes off the bench. 6’0 guard Sean Hoggs added another 23 points, going 7-of-8 from deep and 8-of-11 overall.
Freshman LeAndre Thomas also flirted with a double-double, finishing with 10 points and nine boards, but he started. The 6’10 forward is the lone Hawk standing above 6’9, and one of only two 6’7 or taller. Maryland added some height this offseason that could give the Hawks trouble on the boards.
Maryland started the season off with a road win and brings the show back to College Park on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET.
