Big Ten Media Days are this week in New York City. Classes have prevented the Testudo Times staff from making the trip, but luckily Mark Turgeon’s press conference was televised. Here’s what he had to say:

He didn’t make the trip to New York, but forward Justin Jackson earned Preseason All-Big Ten Team honors this morning.

There wasn’t a lot of roster turnover in the offseason, but Turgeon and the Terps will be playing without Melo Trimble and Damonte Dodd for the first time since joining the conference when they take the court in November. They’ve been replaced by a duo of promising freshmen in Darryl Morsell and Bruno Fernando. Not much else has changed, but—just like football media days—this is a chance for the Terps to gain more exposure, especially in an area they look to recruit so often like New York.

Maryland Madness is Saturday, Oct. 21 at 7:30 p.m., and the team’s first exhibition is on Thursday, Nov. 2 against Randolph-Macon at 7 p.m.; both will be at the XFINITY Center. The team’s first regular season game is on the road at Stony Brook at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10.

Later in the day, Turgeon also stopped by the set of BTN Live with sophomores Anthony Cowan and Kevin Huerter. The trio talked more specifically here about how they’ll go about chasing another top-three-or-better finish in the Big Ten.
