Maryland basketball’s Rasheed Sulaimon joining Dez Wells on Bulls summer league team, per report

The Las Vegas summer league might be mandatory viewing for Maryland fans.

Former Maryland guard Rasheed Sulaimon has agreed to play for the Chicago Bulls in the NBA’s Las Vegas summer league, according to a report by Michael Scotto. Sulaimon went undrafted in Thursday night’s NBA Draft.

With the Bulls, Sulaimon would be paired with another former Terrapin in Dez Wells, who reportedly signed with on to play for Chicago’s summer league team last week.

Sulaimon and Wells both project as shooting guards in the NBA, so they will be competing against each other for a chance to make it onto the Bulls’ roster. However, summer league play is as much about showing off for whoever might be watching than it is about competing for a roster spot on the team you’re playing for. And signing with a team for the summer league brings no assurances that you’ll be on that team once summer league play ends.

The two never played on the same team at Maryland, as Sulaimon came to the program from Duke after Wells graduated in 2015. Sulaimon averaged 11.3 points, 3.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds in 32.9 minutes per game in his one season as a Terp.
