Maryland basketball’s Damonte Dodd out 3 games with sprained MCL

The Terps get Ivan Bender back in Dodd’s absence.

Maryland basketball will be without center Damonte Dodd for its next three games against Howard, Saint Peter’s and Jacksonville State, the school announced Wednesday.

Additionally, forward/center Ivan Bender will be active for Wednesday’s game against Howard after missing Saturday’s game against Oklahoma State.

Maryland’s had all of its big men healthy in exactly two games this season: the Terps’ loss to Pitt and their win over Kansas State.

Maryland does have Michal Cekovsky available, so he and Bender figure to share most of the minutes at center. L.G. Gill, who’d recently been moved back to power forward after starting the year off at center, will probably have to chip in some minutes there too.

Dodd had one of his best games of this young season last time out against Oklahoma State. He scored 12 points on 5-for-9 shooting to go along with eight rebounds and three blocks against the Cowboys.

The Terps take on the Bison tonight at Xfintity Center at 9 p.m. on ESPNU.
