Maryland basketball point guard Melo Trimble was named to the Bob Cousy Award watch list Monday.
This is the second straight year Trimble is on the preseason watch list for the award, which is given to the nation’s top point guard. He’s Maryland’s top returning scorer, as he averaged 14.8 points and five assists per game, both team highs.
Per a National Basketball Hall of Fame release:
By mid-February, the watch list of 20 players for the 2017 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award will be narrowed to just 10. In March, five finalists will be presented to Mr. Cousy and the Hall of Fame’s selection committee. The winner of the 2017 Bob Cousy Award will be represented at the ESPN College Basketball Awards Show in Los Angeles, CA on Friday, April 7. Broadcast information will be released at a later date.
Here’s the full list of nominees, including former Terp Seth Allen.
