WBB: Lady Terps Advance, Will Play Georgetown Tuesday at 7:00

Hopefully there'll be a better turn-out from the students. Both teams won with relative ease.

Edsall Secures Commitment #3

1

In the form of Atlanta O-Lineman Nick Brigham. He's 6' 4 and 275, so he's certainly got the size. Maryland was his only offer but he was supposedly receiving interest from Notre Dame, UNC, and Georgia Tech. Between him and 6' 6, 280 Mike Madaras, Edsall has landed some serious size in this O-Line class. Now if we can just get Greg Pyke to sign up...

Lowe Resigns from NC State

14

It appears the Sidney Lowe era at NC State has come to a close. We'll miss that bright red blazer, whistling at his players, and automatic "w" in the ACC schedule (seriously, State never beat us while Sidney was coaching. We're a perfect 7-0 against him. He is the basketball version of Phillip Rivers). While Sidney's coaching capability has been questioned (the #1 tweet about his resignation and upcoming press conference was "Only question about NC State hoops PC: Will Sidney Lowe call timeout 45 seconds in?", he was a pretty good recruiter. I'd love to have him recruiting for us on staff, especially considering he has many local ties to the area. Dunno if that would ever happen. It will be interesting to see who Debbie Yow gets in her first big hire since joining NC State. My guess is the person is okay but not spectacular. This hire should set the tone for her tenure at State though...

WBB: Maryland Draws a 4 Seed in the NCAA Tournament, in UConn's Bracket

7

It's a home game (!), so make sure to get out to Comcast and support the Lady Terps. They'll draw Georgetown in the second round, too, so there's some local intrigue. Problem: after that, they'll run into UConn. Gulp.

NCAA Tournament Bracket Now Out

6

The greatest postseason in the history of sport is now upon us. First impressions: like UConn's and BYU's draws, both Duke and Florida is overrated, the committee did a terrible job of judging bubble teams this year. Oh, and LOL @ Virginia Tech. That saved tonight for me.

Hewitt out at Georgia Tech

I'm expecting El Sid will get the boot before long, too. Georgia Tech supposedly likes Tubby Smith, while N.C. State fans are probably certain that Yow will be picking between John Calipari, Billy Donovan, and Rick Barnes. Realistically, Tubby will stay at Minny while Cal, Donovan, and Barnes won't get a phone call (if they do, they'll laugh). More likely candidates are guys like Chris Mack (Xavier), Anthony Grant (Alabama), Mark Turgeon (Texas A&M) and Buzz Williams (Marquette). I'd actually rather GT have Tubby than most people on that list. Here's the weird thing: I don't really want either of them to mess up this search. GT and N.C. State can both be good teams, and the conference will be better when they are.

Hakur "Hawk" Palsson was the early spark Maryland needed against NC state tonight. In only his second career start, the Hawk drilled two jumpers to help Maryland grab an early lead and they never looked back.
