Three-star linebacker Keyari James made his commitment to Maryland football official when he signed with the program on Wednesday’s early National Signing Day.
Originally from Canada but now attending Clearwater Academy International in Clearwater, Florida, James had an impressive senior season this fall. He totaled 124 tackles — 16 for loss — five sacks. He added an interception and four blocked kicks.
James was an unranked prospect when he first committed to Maryland in June, but has since earned himself a three-star ranking. The 6-foot-1, 233-pound linebacker is ranked by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 146 linebacker in his class and No. 207 player from Florida.
“I was really impressed by the focused and winning culture they’re building and how tight knit everyone was,” James told Testudo Times after his commitment. “I knew right away it was a place I could succeed and help really buy into the goal.”
