Three-star lineman Michael Hershey officially signed with Maryland football on Wednesday.
The 6-foot-5, 255-pound defensive lineman out of Spring Grove, Pennsylvania is ranked as 144th-best defensive lineman in his class and the 38th-best recruit in Pennsylvania by the 247Sports Composite. He is listed by the program as an offensive lineman — a position he has also become familiar with during his high school career.
“It’s been a lifelong goal for me and my family,” Hershey told Testudo Times. “I’m very grateful for this opportunity to further my academic and athletic career. I thank God for leading me in the right direction.”
Hershey committed to Maryland over James Madison and Western Michigan in June.
He excelled at Spring Grove High School, where he was named a Division I All-Star by the York-Adams League as an offensive lineman and a defensive lineman in both 2022 and 2023. Hershey also ranked third in Pennsylvania District III wrestling in the 285-pound weight class in the 2022-2023 winter season and is currently 10-0 in his 2023-2024 campaign. Hershey is currently pursuing another state medal for wrestling and will enroll at Maryland in the fall.
