Maryland men’s basketball guard Jahmir Young was named to the Bob Cousy Award preseason watch list, it was announced Monday.
The award is given annually to the top point guard in the country. He is the fourth Terp ever named to the list, joining Greivis Vasquez, Melo Trimble and Anthony Cowan Jr.
Young was one of 20 guards named to the list and one of only three Big Ten players. Boo Buie (Northwestern) and Ace Baldwin Jr. (Penn State) were also selected.
Young, entering his second season with the Terps, was a recent unanimous selection to the All-Big Ten preseason team.
The Terps will begin their season against Mount St. Mary’s on Nov. 7.
