MM 8.5: Maryland women’s lacrosse adds two key transfers

This is the Maryland Minute, a short story followed by a roundup of Terps-related news.

Maryland women’s lacrosse gained two significant transfers with the likes of the North Carolina’s Shannon Smith and the University of Pennsylvania’s Abby Bosco joining the roster, the team announced recently on Twitter.

The program first announced the addition of Smith, who is a midfielder and a rising sophomore that will be added to the Terps’ roster for the upcoming season. She was the No. 13 ranked recruit in the Class of 2020 and appeared in eight games for UNC in 2021. In those games, she finished with a total of three goals and four ground balls.

Smith is a Phoenix, Maryland native and attended Roland Park Country School in Baltimore before heading off to college.

Bosco, on the other hand, is an All-Ivy League defender that will be joining Maryland’s program this season. She is a graduate transfer and played just one game in 2021 for the Quakers due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Bosco started her lone appearance last season against La Salle and tallied six draw controls and four ground balls. She was a 2020 Third-Team Inside Lacrosse Media All-American and also captured a spot on the Second-Team All-Ivy squad back in 2019.
