The NFL announced on Sunday that former Maryland football wide receiver Stefon Diggs is the No. 11 ranked player in the league ahead of the 2021-22 season.
The Buffalo Bills star jumped 43 spots from his No. 54 spot last season after recording a league-leading 127 receptions for 1,535 yards in 2020. His receptions and yards set a new Bills single-season record and his No. 11 ranking is the highest in Maryland history.
While at Maryland as a sophomore in 2013, Diggs was an All-ACC honorable mention and in 2014, coaches named Diggs to the All-Big Ten Second Team after he led the team in receptions with 52, in receiving yards with 654 and five receiving touchdowns.
Diggs and the Bills kick off their regular season campaign on Sept. 12 against the Pittsburgh Steelers at 1 p.m. That game will feature a face-off between Terps as former Maryland players Antoine Brooks Jr., Trey Edmunds and Anthony McFarland Jr. are on the Steelers.
