This is the Maryland Minute, a short story followed by a roundup of Terps-related news.

Maryland women’s lacrosse was awarded a spot on the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Academic Honors Squad list, the program announced Tuesday afternoon. Maryland is one of 94 Division I programs to achieve this accolade, which requires the team to have a 3.2 or higher GPA for the full academic year.

The Terps did more than reach that benchmark as they earned a cumulative GPA of 3.531 and even improved it to a 3.560 GPA mark in the spring, according to the release.

Other than the team’s cumulative GPA, seven individual players on the roster were also selected to the IWLCA Division I Academic Honor Roll. Defenders Tori Barretta and Laurie Bracey, midfielders Grace Griffin and Brooke Robbins, goalie Madison Hine and attacker Catie May were the collection of seniors named to the list. Junior Hannah Glaros was also named to the Honor Roll.

Every individual Terp that made the Honor Roll was named to the Academic All-Big Ten team last month as well. Potential candidates for this accolade need to be a junior, senior, or graduate student and need to have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better to qualify for the list.
