Steve Blake As Maryland Head Coach

Steve certainly checks a lot of boxes.

1)The connection- Point guard on Maryland NCAA Championship team.

2)Name recognition- a 13 year NBA player

3) coaching experience - Phoenix Suns & Portland Trailblazers

4) International connection- Briefly played in Australia

He has always had the basketball smarts; his father was a basketball coach. I know that there are some who will say that Steve Blake does not have enough coaching experience but by comparison I give you Steve Kerr who actually had no prior coaching experience when he took over the Golden State Warriors. Steve certainly brings a fire reminiscent of Gary Williams. Like Gary Williams, who was the starting point guard for Maryland under Bud Millikan, Steve Blake was the starting point guard under Gary Williams from day one. Steve is also very young, 41, and as a student of the game, I suggest, would be an excellent x's and O's coach. Can he recruit, that would be the question, but he certainly has street Cred and I say why not! If anyone can identify, recruit, and coach the next great Maryland point guard, the quarterback of a basketball team, it certainly could be Steven Hanson Blake.
