When Mark Duffner took over in 1990ish, he tried a national recruiting base. However, each year he was losing ten players. Mark said he was going to go back to recruiting the NY, PA, NJ and Maryland areas. It was easier to get players to stay five years.
It is proven difficult for players from the south to come up and stay. The further away the Terps recruit, the odds of players staying five years drops down.
Losing the two linebackers today, Terrance Lewis and Brandon Jennings is a tough blow.
