Maryland men’s basketball senior guard Eric Ayala was named to the 2021-22 preseason All-Big Ten team on Wednesday.
Ayala averaged 15.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game last season and is returning to lead the Terps this season. The strongest games of his junior campaign came in the final four matchups of the season. The Wilmington, Delaware native averaged 19.0 points and 6.3 rebounds in the postseason.
11 players were added to the list this season as there was a tie among honorees. Ayala is joined by Kofi Cockburn, Trayce Jackson-Davis, Hunter Dickinson, E.J. Liddell, Jaden Ivey, Andre Curbelo, Keegan Murray, Caleb Houstan, Trevion Williams, and Ron Harper Jr.
Cockburn, Jackson-Davis, Dickinson, Liddell and Ivey were all unanimous selections.
The Terps kick off their regular season on Nov, 9 against Quinnipiac and will begin Big Ten play on Jan. 3 when they travel to Iowa.
