For the third time this season, Anthony Cowan Jr. was named the Big Ten Player of the Week Monday.

A Maryland men’s basketball player has now earned the honor in three of the last four weeks.

Cowan averaged 18.5 points, 6.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 2.5 rebounds in victories against Nebraska and Michigan State last week. He is the first Terp to earn weekly conference player of the week honors three times in one season since Greivis Vasquez in 2009-10.

The senior guard secured the accolade on Feb. 3, and he shared the honor with Michigan’s Jon Teske on Dec. 2.

The Bowie, Maryland, native is averaging 16.6 points, 4.5 assists and 3.6 rebounds so far this season as he continues to ascend up the program record books.

Cowan and the Terps will attempt to keep their eight-game win streak alive Tuesday night against Northwestern at Xfinity Center.
