Anyone else panicking yet? (next year)

Let me preface this by saying I'm enjoying this season immensely, and I typically never look too far in advance especially when the current season is going this well.

With that said, the state of the program from a macro view always has to be in consideration. We're going to lose Cowan and most likely Jalen. The only player we have coming in at the moment is Dockery who has now dropped another 50 spots in the rankings as he is below 200 (in composite).

Excluding international prospects like Bender and Tomiac, since 2012 (Turge's first class where he had a full cycle to recruit them), he has only brought in THREE lower ranked players (Lindo, Ramsey and Hart and the latter two were labeled as projects and Lindo was still 17 when he got here).

Between the 19' and now 20' classes we have taken a SERIOUS step back in the quality of players we're bringing in. I know nobody expected the Mitchell Twins to leave, but it seems like allowing them to commit so early when there were multiple red flags present still falls on the staff.

I have two points. (1) why aren't we consistently competitive with top100 players like we were from 14'-18'? (Huerter, Jackson, Melo, Cowan, Bruno, Darryl, Wiggins, etc) not even saying 5 stars or high 4's...just guys within that 50-100 range. and (2) where do we go from here? Zion seems like he's fading on us, there are no other high level targets, and I'm not impressed with the current transfer market nor should that be counted on as a viable option. It's a total lottery when it comes to the top transfers. Smotrycz and Aronhalt were terrible. Pack was serviceable on defense and Carter Jr viewed his time here as a G-League try-out. Sulaimon is the only true exception to this.

It hurts seeing us #1 in Standings, then look at recruiting and see us dead last. How we're not taking advantage of on court success and translating that on the trail is beyond me, and how we can't effectively get a new point guard in here after Melo and Cowan's careers is also baffling. Only advice is to buckle up and enjoy this season, because at this rate, we're looking at a pretty big talent-gap on the roster soon here...but not to worrry - perhaps in a couple years Turgeon will start all freshman and sophomores again so we get to hear how young the team is 1,384,347,490 times during the season again.
