Maryland men’s basketball visits the Purdue Boilermakers in a Christmas Day matinee Friday.
This marks the second time in school history the Terps are in action on Christmas and the first since 1984 — when they traveled to Hawaii and defeated Iowa in overtime.
Maryland is looking for its first conference win of the season after falling to then-No. 19 Rutgers. It returned to the win column earlier this week, topping La Salle, 84-71, at Xfinity Center on Tuesday.
Eric Ayala posted a career-high 23 points against the Explorers and shot 13-of-15 from the charity stripe. Donta Scott continued his dominant season with a one-handed dunk that ranked No. 1 on SportsCenter the next day. The Terps’ forward is averaging 14.6 points over his last five games, along with 7.6 rebounds.
Across Purdue’s last four games, junior forward Trevion Williams is averaging 18.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. The Boilermakers are coming off a road 70-55 loss to No. 4 Iowa.
While Purdue narrowly holds the all-time record between the Big Ten foes, Maryland has won the schools’ last two meetings.
All the action tips off at 2:30 p.m. on Fox Sports 1.
