Maryland baseball: Several players have opted to play elsewhere

All teams lose players to transfers, as incoming freshmen and transfers from other schools narrow the playing time bandwidth. An article on a college baseball web site a few months back claimed that Maryland was losing 9 players due to transfer. Well, the projected 2020 roster is online (some of the names are walk-ons who might not stay with the team) and by my count there are 7 players not returning to play ball at Maryland.

LHP Grant Burleson. The rising junior saw limited action last season. I don't know where he's headed.

C Zach Doss Transferred to D-II Shepherd University

C/DH Sebastian Holte-Mancera Transferred to D-II Minnesota State Univ. - Mankato

1B Kody Milton Transferred to the Naval Academy.

LHP Tuck Tucker I don't know where he's headed.

RHP Nick Turnbull Transferred to UNC-Charlotte

LHP Andrew Vail Transferred to Missouri

The biggest shocker is Andrew Vail, who appeared in 20 games last season, all in relief. The Gloucester Catholic alum posted a 2.89 era.

Kody Milton had a ton of upside when he came to College Park. But for some unknown reason, he started off on the wrong foot and couldn't break out of what became a season-long slump. Milton is an excellent student and will be a fine representative of our armed forces.

"Sea Bass" had some nice moments early in the season, but tailed off the second half.
