Former Maryland Athletic Director Kevin Anderson will be the interim athletic director at Cal State Northridge, per ESPN’s Jeff Goodman.

Anderson had been Maryland’s AD since 2010, but went on administrative leave and a six-month sabbatical over the 2017-18 winter. The university officially announced his departure in mid-April. He was previously the assistant AD at California from 1997-2002, and is a California native.
Cal State Northridge fired both its men’s basketball coach and athletic director on March 8. Campus police were reportedly investigating a physical altercation between the two, though there was no reference to any incident in the university president’s statement, which gave no reason for “parting ways” with both men.
Maryland, meanwhile, is in the process of conducting a national search for Anderson’s replacement. The university is reportedly using Turnkey Talent Recruiters to help find its new AD, and has formed an internal panel of school faculty and athletic department representatives. There are no leading candidates yet, but it would behoove Maryland to find a replacement before the dog days of summer.
