Maryland football is on its bye week right now, but the Terps return to the field on Sept. 23 against UCF. That game will kick off at 3 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1, the team announced Monday.

While it seems on the surface like a reasonable time, this is actually the only game slated to start at 3 p.m. that day. Most college football games start in either the noon, 3:30 or primetime windows. But FS1 seems to have a different plan for its second Maryland telecast of the season.
In more advanced planning, Maryland basketball anounced Tuesday that its ACC/Big Ten Challenge matchup with Syracuse will be at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

It’s funny to see these announcements come on the same day, as they’re over two full months apart. The UCF game is literally the next one on Maryland’s schedule, while college basketball season hasn’t started yet. It’s an odd difference between the two sports, especially because non-conference football matchups are determined years in advance while basketball schedules aren’t announced in their entirety until the summer of that year.
Either way, these announcements allow Maryland fans to plan their afternoons and evenings accordingly on these days.
