Maryland men's basketball tips off at 4 p.m. ET this afternoon against New Mexico in the Emerald Coast Classic consolation game on Emerald Coast TV. Both teams are coming off two-point losses, but in starkly different performances. The Terps turned the ball over 20 times before losing to St. Bonaventure, 63-61; the Lobos forced 16 turnovers during a comeback effort against TCU that fell just short, 69-67.
Maryland's loss to the Bonnies was their first of the season, bringing them to 5-1, while yesterday's loss marked three straight for New Mexico. Sam Logwood went for a career-high 27 against the Horned Frogs, and Maryland will have to keep him in check, along with Akron grad transfer Antino Jackson and Chris McNeal. The Terps No. 1 priority will be limiting turnovers, though, against a New Mexico team that's top-50 in the country at causing them. Anthony Cowan led the Terps in scoring against the Bonnies with 13, but Maryland can't really afford another quiet game from Kevin Huerter and Justin Jackson. Freshman Darryl Morsell returned from his hamstring injury, but he and fellow freshman Bruno Fernando were largely kept in check.
This is your space for analysis, observations or whatever else comes to mind. As always, be respectful, and go Terps.
