Maryland football commit Tyrek Tisdale not enrolling this fall, per report

A family medical issue will keep him from joining the team right away.

Maryland football’s freshman class just shrunk by one, as Tyrek Tisdale will not enroll due to "health issues in his family," he told InsideMdSports. He hopes to enroll in January, according to IMS.

"It’s unfortunate, but I have to do what I have to do for my family," he told IMS. Tisdale is not listed on Maryland’s roster as of Saturday.

He was the No. 93 player in Florida and the No. 16 all-purpose back in the class of 2016, according to the 247Sports Composite. Though he’s listed as a running back, Tisdale was coming to Maryland as a safety, according to IMS.

This leaves the team with four freshman defensive backs, all of whom are from Florida, like Tisdale.

Tisdale originally committed to Florida in March of 2015 but re-opened his recruitment in October, ultimately picking the Terps over UMass. He also had offers from Ohio State, Miami and South Carolina.
